Colossians 1:27 To them God willed TO MAKE KNOWN what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is CHRIST IN YOU, the HOPE OF GLORY.
Many have dubbed Christianity a religion. Some even say that it is one of the fastest growing religions of the world that advocates true justice and peace but it still doesn’t make it a religion. Jesus said in John 10:10, “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may HAVE LIFE, and that they may have it more abundantly.”
The men and women that Jesus spoke to were breathing and physically alive so He definitely wasn’t referring to a natural life! He was referring to the very life of God thus making Christianity the pulsating life of God in a person. It is more of a relationship with a Father who’s life flows in and through us.
Jesus said in John 15:5, “I am the sprouting VINE and you’re my BRANCHES. As you LIVE IN UNION with me as YOUR SOURCE, fruitfulness will stream from within you—but when you live separated from me you are powerless” (Passion).
The powerful truth here is that Jesus was talking about being in ‘union’ with Him i.e., becoming one with Him because it is the same life that is in the “vine” that is also in the “branch.” This is what It means to be a Christian. 1 Corinthians 6:17 says, “But the one who JOINS himself to the Lord is MINGLED into ONE SPIRIT WITH HIM.”In chemistry, if you ‘mingle’ two substances together, a reaction takes place resulting in a new compound. It is the same thing when a person receives Jesus into their hearts, a spiritual reaction takes place that produces a new compound known as a Christian. This person is referred to a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17).
Paul writing to the Colossians said he wanted them to know that beyond the formalism of rituals, a Christian is someone who has and carries the very life of God. He said concerning Jesus, “… it pleased the Father that IN HIM all the FULLNESS should dwell…” Paul wanted them to know that Jesus in His earth walk was everything that God was. He was more than a good man, Jesus was a ‘God-man.’ He had the fullness of God dwelling in Him.
As beautiful as that was, that wasn’t the end. Through Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection, He paid the price for sin and opened up the way for men and women to freely receive and participate in this same life. Apostle Paul calls it a mystery that has been hidden from the world! Colossians 1:26 in the Passion translation says, “There is a divine mystery—a secret surprise that has been concealed from the world for generations, but now it’s BEING REVEALED, UNFOLDED and MANIFESTED for every holy believer to EXPERIENCE.”
Man has always sought for the ‘state of divinity’ through religions, cults and enlightenment but what they seek has been revealed through believers! The Christian is the revelation of God dwelling inside a man. This truth also has to become a revelation to the child of God for him/her to walk and live as one. According to our text, it has to become a revelation to you that “… Christ IN you is the HOPE of glory!”
The revelation and consciousness of Christ living in you the same way the fullness of God was in Jesus in what births the expectation (or hope) of a glorious, excellent and victorious life in everything that you do because the glory (or fruit) of the vine is seen through the branches and you are the branch of the vine called Christ.
|| Thank You Father for your life in me. You’re in me and I am in You. Together we are unstoppable. What cannot conquer you cannot conquer me because I am the living, walking and breathing expression of everything that You are and represent! I am one with You. What a glorious life! Glory to God! ||
